This Privacy Policy explains what personal data BiasharaReview collects, why, and what your rights are. BiasharaReview is operated by Tanzanite Digital LLC, Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
We follow the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 of Tanzania and, for users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation.
1. What we collect
When you browse without signing in, our hosting provider records standard technical data in server logs: your IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and referring site. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without storing your IP address or identifying you personally.
When you sign in with Google, Google sends us your name, email address and profile photo. We store these to create your account and show your name and photo next to your reviews. We never receive your Google password.
When you write a review, we store the review, rating, title, date of experience, any photos you attach, and the time and source of submission. Your name and profile photo are shown publicly with the review.
When you add or claim a business, we store the business details you enter. For a claim we also store your contact name, email, phone number, relationship to the business, and the proof you provide: either a business document (such as a TIN certificate or business licence) or details of the business's official social media account. Claim documents and details are stored privately, seen only by our administrators, and are never shown publicly.
When you interact, we record which reviews you mark Helpful, which businesses you save, and any reports you file.
When you email us, we keep the email and our reply.
We do not collect payment information: the Platform is free.
2. Why we use it

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show advertising on the Platform and do not share your data with advertisers.
3. What is public
Reviews, ratings, review photos, your display name and profile photo, and business listings are public and indexed by search engines. Choose your Google display name and photo accordingly. Your email address is never shown publicly. Claim documents are never shown publicly.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contract:
- Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) — data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany, in the European Union.
- Vercel (website hosting, delivery and cookieless page-view analytics).
- Google (sign-in).
- Email and messaging providers used to send account notifications, claim decisions and first-review notifications to businesses.
These providers may process data outside Tanzania, including in the European Union and the United States. Where data leaves Tanzania we rely on the providers' contractual commitments and standard data protection clauses.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights and safety of users, businesses or the public.
5. How long we keep it
- Account data: as long as your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of a deletion request, except where we must retain it for legal reasons.
- Reviews and listings: while they are published. Removed reviews are hidden from the public but retained for up to 24 months for moderation records and dispute handling, then deleted or anonymised.
- Claim documents: for the life of the claim, then 12 months, then deleted.
- Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a limited period and not linked to your account.
- Emails: up to 24 months.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete your account and personal data;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EEA or UK.
You can edit or delete your own reviews at any time from your profile. For anything else, email hi@biasharareview.com. We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity first.
If you delete your account, your reviews may remain on the Platform, with your name and photo replaced by "Former user", where they are part of a business's genuine review history. Tell us if you want them deleted entirely and we will do so unless we have a legal reason not to.
7. Children
The Platform is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, stored with encryption at rest by our providers, and protected by access controls so that only our administrators can see private data such as claim documents. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
9. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed for the Platform to work. See our Cookie Policy for details.
10. Changes
We will update this policy as the Platform changes. Significant changes will be announced on the Platform. The date at the top shows the current version.
